Have you guys heard of Bill Brown? This 19-year-old has been tearing up the Connected Ventures after-work Sorry! Club circuit, starting his with an unprecedented 10 wins and 0 losses. Who could stop this kid? How about Dave Cho, who last night teamed up with Bill for his first loss against the dynamic teamup of Blumenfeld/Dougherty. From what I've heard, Blumenfeld stockpiled the 1's and 2's - a controversial yet effective strategy. When the game was winding down, Blumenfeld busted out a 2, 2, 2, 10 setting Dougherty up to win the game with a 3.What do you guys think? Is stockpiling 1's and 2's for the end of the game just a part of Sorry!, or does it breach basic Sorry! etiquette?
THis isn't even what i wanted to say, but a 2-2-2-10 into the goal line was given a fun name by dave one night but no one remember's what it was. But it was awesome, I swear.
okay, dave just said it was called "the Clavelli." When i asked him about it he thought i was apologizing. Just more evidence that the game needs to be played more.
Just wanted to remind everyone that the 'tern (ex-tern?) combo of Bill "Magic Fingers" Brown and myself remains undefeated. Last night was a close game against Ethan Dougherty and Jeff Rubin, but we remained level headed and pulled off the W. I'm just saying...
In less than two weeks I will return to the west side to continue on the tradition of Team Sorry! in its homeland.
I look forward to road games at Menegozzi/ Clavelli field, but the home of Team Sorry! is on the other side of Atherton. I miss performing the yo-yo style slide, and most of all, the camaraderie.
Also, I will most likely carry on the tradition of not getting play.

I can't believe the interns waited until they left to talk shit and gloat about how they never lost a game of Sorry!. What the hell.
I must admit, I have stockpiled 1s and 2s for the end of the game. It actually led to a win, I'm very happy to say. I think that Sorry! is all about strategy, which must include which cards to hold on to. If we reverted back to simply playing the card as we draw it, we would be sinking to the level of a game of chance (epitomised by the pop-o-matic bubble... you know what I'm talking about.)
That's just my two cents.
That's just my two cents.
disclaimer: I'm pretty much a Sorry! newbie.
I'm not sure if I understand the advantage of 1&2 hoarding...
Minimizing pieces your team has outside of the safety zone and start seems wise; focus on the pieces that are already in play and vulnerable.
Would you sit on 1's and 2's when you've got a 4 ready to go and your team has one piece thats stranded halfway from home? It seems like a big gamble, particularly if you don't know whether your teammate is hoarding with you.
This strategy also seems pretty dependant on your opponent's use of Sorry!s in the mid to late game. If they are seasoned players who understand the devaluation of Sorry! in the late game and will dump them, then 1 and 2 are their only way out of start. But the ploy could backfire on a less experienced player, who may be able to bust out of start with 2 or 3 Sorry!s.
